Heat treatment

Finishing metals is a standard in today’s technological development. The ever increasing demands for components used in toolmaking, mechanical and plant engineering, vehicle manufacturing, medical engineering as well as the aerospace industry also require the necessary steel to be finished in more prominent and more refined ways.

Heat treatment is the most common method used for finishing, which targets specific material properties and alters them so that they suit the intended purpose best. The potential of a steel is only fully exploited by means of heat treatment adapted to the steel composition, the intended use and the component size.

Different units are used to achieve the desired properties. They include:

  • Continuous furnaces
  • Bogie hearth furnaces
  • Single bar heat treatment line
  • Quenching and tempering unit (low-distortion heat treatment for metal sheets)
