The building shell is complete. Deutsche Edelstahlwerke holds topping out ceremony in future quality control building

The rough work commenced in the autumn of 2011 for the new building on the premises of Deutsche Edelstahlwerke in Krefeld is completed. On Friday, 27 April 2012, the company held a traditional topping out ceremony attended by all the employees and craftsmen involved.

Construction work has made progress. Deutsche Edelstahlwerke has completed important preliminary work for the modernisation of its secondary metallurgic treatment facilities and de-dusting plant

The progress of construction work on the premises of Deutsche Edelstahlwerke can meanwhile be clearly seen from the Ruhrdeich (Ruhr dike) – especially in the area of the de-dusting plant where exhaust pipes 3.60 metres in diameter and prefabricated parts of the de-dusting plant were installed on a hall roof with the aid of modern industrial crane technology in the past few weeks. A new, green hall is also visible from the outside: it houses the recently completed, new water management system currently being commissioned.

Urban jungle in the steelworks. Witten-based artist Christoph Mandera exhibits his works at Deutsche Edelstahlwerke

As part of the series "Works at the Witten plant", pictures created by Christoph Mandera will embellish the corridors of the Deutsche Edelstahlwerke GmbH head office during the next few months. The opening exhibition of "Urban Street Art" took place today on the company's plant grounds in Witten.

Successful vocational training. New chief personnel officer Burkhard Hartmann presents certificates to apprentices at Deutsche Edelstahlwerke

46 apprentices at Deutsche Edelstahlwerke GmbH have successfully completed their final examinations. In order to celebrate this occasion appropriately, the steel company today held an official graduation ceremony for the newly qualified personnel at the Henrichshütte in Hattingen. This was the first time that Deutsche Edelstahlwerke's new labour director, Burkhard Hartmann, has presented certificates to the company's apprentices.

Protecting the environment using river water. Deutsche Edelstahlwerke to save drinking water with new water treatment plant

From now on, Deutsche Edelstahlwerke will be able to reduce its consumption of mains drinking water by a third at its site in Siegen, Germany. To do so, the company has invested in a new treatment plant that filters water from the nearby Ferndorf river so it can be used as process water.
